What is the difference between vaccination and immunization?

We often come across different terms like immunization, vaccination, and inoculation which are often used interchangeably, but these are usually different terms and so have different meanings as well.  They help the human body to fight against diseases and to help build in a guard that will protect them as well.

There is major difference between Vaccination and Immunization. One of the most important one is that a vaccine is administered to person to create immunity from that disease. Say for example, the polio vaccine is administered in the infant to build in the immunity to the disease as they have a high risk of contracting that disease. So, doing a vaccination will help build up resistance (immunity) to a disease.

What Vaccines Do?

Vaccination and immunization aim to protect people from potentially deadly diseases. These are diseases that have the capacity to kill the person so the vaccines help them build up the immunity for that.  So, when a person receive the vaccine, it helps the immune system to recognize the substance as harmful and tailor-make antibodies that will be designed to target that disease. This can also be referred as the acquired immunity that will be adaptive to the responses and attacks and neutralizes only the specific pathogen and at the same time leaves behind memory cells to re-launch an attack should the pathogen return. This also helps the body to create a shield for the disease.

In the subsequent process when the majority of the people get vaccinated in connection of a disease, this will help in reducing the risk of the diseases preading further. In this, the community can now head for herd immunity that will help the society to grow and be resident to the disease as well.

This is the approach that is being taken to wipe out major diseases like measles, polio etc. this is one of this approach that is also being taken by many of the governments worldwide to eradicate the present pandemic.

Vaccine and Duration Of Immunity

There is however a time period for vaccination. This usually starts from the time when the vaccine is taken and the duration of the risk factor.  There is however a recommended schedule that is prepared for the child as well to get vaccinated so that they can become immune to few diseases right from their birth. This is so very important that the child should be well vaccinated according to the schedule.

This should be noted here that the vaccinations are important so that the child be healthy and in due course if we see that the effect of vaccination is getting less and the immunity so falling down then it is advisable that we should get the booster done so that the body can again regain the sufficient anti bodies to fight against the disease.

What is the Difference between Vaccination and Immunization?

This is to note here that the vaccination and immunization will go hand in hand. Immunity to a disease can happen naturally orit be induced by artificial means. Say a person is contracted Chicken Pox; it is very rare case that the person will have this gain because by the time he recovers, the body already has formed anti bodies to fight this infection in future. Creating immunity artificially will involve exposure to very weak or deactivated disease that will help in the resistance building. Let us have an understanding of the major differences between these two terms:

Difference Between Vaccination And Immunization
Vaccination Immunization
In this  process, the main step  involves Introducing a weakened / deactivated disease causing microbes into a person The immunization starts after the person is exposed to the vaccine and in the next turn of events the  body starts building resistance to that disease
Vaccines are usually  injected or administered orally This can be sometimes acquired or sometimes the body tends to form the résistance naturally as well.
There are various vaccines that are specifically designed to build up the immunity The body builds up immunity through specific vaccine  for the  specific disease
Vaccination  however will not guarantee complete resistance to a disease In case of immunity, it is fully developed when the person fully recovers from the disease.
In the normal case when the mutation happens  the  microbe,  it will help to  render the vaccine ineffective .This is also the reason that most of the common disease do not have a vaccine There will be varied responses to the different disease and as such we will be able to have a better way to fight.
