Stages Involved in Setting Up a Porch Garden

Imagine your white porch with rocking chairs and some stools by the side. Imagine beautiful flowers of different but complementary colors rooted in nice containers and sitting around on your porch. How does that feel? Good, yea? That is why you need flowers on your patio! You should plan them well; they inspire creativity and can ease anxiety. It is better to get wholesale nursery containers to save some bucks since you will have more than two or three on your porch.

Here are some walk-through steps for setting up a porch garden.

Plan your space: You can get a home planner or designer to help you select or set up your space. Alternatively, think of where to have them, besides the steps, on the floor close to the guardrails, or having them in a hanging pot over the railings, or even some for your side table. You can do a rough sketch.

Pick the right porch planters: Based on the space, pick your planters. Tabletop? Hanging baskets for the wall/pillars? Rail planters for your rail? The regular plastic or sustainable pots for your floors? Which goes best?

Plants/Flowers: This can come after choosing the planters or side-by-side with the above step. You should select plant colors that complement your porch paint. You can have plants that portray your personality or ones you feel are easy to care for. So, your flower type now informs your design.

Mind the colors: Again, your colors should complement. Be mindful of them; they shouldn’t all conflict with or oppose your porch’s painting. They should blend.

Irrigation channel: Whether using a long hose from a side tap or a watering can, you should decide and plan your irrigation system before you set up your porch garden. Planning irrigation prevents a messy verandah every when you wet the plants.
